The construction of Pemuda Reservoir on Jalan Pemuda 1, Srengseng Sawah Urban Village, Jagakarsa Sub-district, South Jakarta, is targeted to complete December.
to handle inundation and flood
South Jakarta Water Resource Sub-agency Head, Santo, said the reservoir construction is aimed to reduce flood impact in the area.
"The reservoir construction is resident's request submitted by Jagakarsa Sub-district Head. We have been constructing since April ago," he said, Thursday (10/3).
His side deploys 45 personnel and tens of heavy equipment such as long arm excavator by eight units, two units amphibious and one roller fibro to construct the 1.9 ha reservoir.
Santo added the reservoir is not only functioned as flood handling, but also as public facility such as jogging track and parking lot.
The reservoir also has two connecting channels namely Babakan Atas and Babakan Bawah.
"We also construct the plastering of Babakan Atas connecting channel along 930 meter and Babakan Bawah along 744 meter," he added.
According to him, South Jakarta Water Resource Sub-agency also implements other flood handling programs namely constructing pump house and flood handling equipment in Cipulir, Kebayoran Lama Sub-district. Then also constructing pump at IKPN Bintato, Pesanggrahan Sub-district.
Santo explained his side is also constructing and normalizing water channel in several locations in South Jakarta. Areas to be focused are in Bukit Duri, Tebet, Dharmawangsa connecting channel in Kebayoran Baru, and several water channels in Setiabudi and Pasar Minggu Sub-district.
"Hopefully our efforts are able to handle inundation and flood in South Jakarta," he stated.
