Acting Governor Heru Inaugurates Groundbreaking for Construction of Independent Waste Processing Facility

Acting Jakarta Governor, Heru Budi Hartono launched the groundbreaking of Perumda Pasar Jaya Independent Waste Processing Facility at Induk Market Kramat Jati, East Jakarta.

In his speech, Heru hoped that the construction of the 3R (Reduce, Reused, Recycle) Waste Processing Facility (TPS) could help handle the waste problem at the Induk Market Kramat Jati.

Heru explained as one of the economic center for Jakarta residents, the market has 100 tons per day of waste capacity that can be processed. Through this 3R dump site, the waste will be processed into solid fuel which is utilized by the co-firing process as a substitute for fuel in the Steam Power Plant (PLTU) owned by PT PLN.

"It means the processing wioll e used for the PLTU power plant," Heru added.

Heru also appealed the traders in the market to maintain the cleanliness. He also hopes that the Induk Market Kramat Jati can become a market model that has a controlled waste management process facility through the 3R TPS.

Meanwhile, Perumda Pasar Jaya Director, Agus Himawan Widiyanto, stated this activity is expected to support the government's program in conducting independent waste processing. 500 tons of waste can be produced per day by 153 markets managed by Perumda Pasar Jaya. It means 6.5 percent of the waste produced by Jakarta by 7,700 tons per day. That is why modern and efficient waste management is needed much.

"This independent waste facility is built above 3,800 square meter of land owned by Jakarta City Park and Forestry Agency. Hopefully the facility can be completed in early July 2025 with daily capacity 100-120 tons," he stated.

Agus added, Pasar Jaya will empower the surrounding residents to work in the operation of the 3R TPS. There are a number of other facilities provided in the independent waste processing building area, namely a prayer room, integrated health post, and community hall that can be used by the surrounding residents.

"25 infiltration areas will also be provided there to anticipate inundation. Now we have realized six areas. We also plant it with decorated plants to beautify the area," he said.
