City Council's Commission D Focuses on Tackling Flood and Waste

Jakarta City Council's Commission D Chairwoman, Yuke Yurike, said his side is commit to handle flood and waste problems.

Yurike added Commission D will cooperate with Regional Working Unit to handle unsolved problems in Jakarta.

Yuke explained, various issues that are the focus such as land acquisition to the construction of reservoirs in several locations.
"We want to add reservoirs so that they can become water parking areas before they go downstream and trigger flooding," she explained.
Related to waste issue, Yuke admitted will monitor a number of Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF) facilities that have been running. These facilities are expected to be able to reduce waste in Jakarta.
As in transportation sector, his side will also provide support for the construction of roads and bridges if needed to solve traffic jam. As the example, road widening project in JIS needs to be completed soon.
"Under Commission D, Bina Marga Agency will also give its support," she stated.
