It is also a step to anticipate disturbances

South Jakarta Transportation Sub-agency Head, Bernard Oktavianus Pasaribu said today's nail-trap sweeping is a joint step to provide comfort and safety to road users.

"It is also a step to anticipate disturbances by enforcing Bylaw 8/2007 on Public Order," he expressed, Friday (10/25).

S. Jakarta Satpol PP Sweeps Nail Traps on Two Streets

In one sweep on the main road, his team managed to find 10-100 grams of nail traps.

"Those nails are found on Jalan Jenderal Gatot Subroto and it will be an evaluation for us to conduct more massive searches," he explained.

He asserted that the perpetrators of spreading nails could be charged with the Road Traffic and Transportation Law (LLAJ) Article 310 with a maximum prison sentence of six years or punished with the criminal threat as regulated in Article 192 number 1.

"Hopefully, the same case can't happen again. Moreover, these nail mines can also threaten lives and harm road users," he hoped.

South Jakarta Civil Servant Investigator (PPNS) and Satpol PP Action Section Head, Daniel uttered that besides clearing nail traps, personnel had also held several raids on unscrupulous tire repair businesses that were operating on sidewalks or green belts.

"Every day, we send 20 personnel to clear nail traps and anticipate other violations of public order. We do it humanely and firmly," he stated.
