Ahead of Year End, Jakarta Provincial - BI Discuss Inflation Control

Jakarta Provincial Government together with Representative Office of Bank Indonesia (BI) Jakarta held High Level Meeting of Regional Inflation Control Team (TPID) and Regional Digitization Acceleration and Expansion Team (TP2DD) at DubleTree by Hilton Hotel Jakarta, Cikini, Central Jakarta, Friday (12/6).

This activity was held in order to synergize inflation control towards the end of 2024, as well as accelerate digitalization for Jakarta's growth.

 

Jakarta Provincial Government Presents Regional Government Performance in 2024

Acting Jakarta Governor, Teguh Setyabudi led the meeting accompanied by Jakarta Regional Secretary, Marullah Matali; Jakarta Regional Secretary's Economy and Finance Assistant, Sri Haryati and Representative Office of Bank Indonesia (BI) Jakarta, Arlyana Abubakar.

Teguh said that the meeting discussed how to maintain food security during Christmas and New Year as well as intensifying the acceleration and expansion of regional government digitalization. Teguh also appreciated TPID, food taskforce and all related stakeholders for the efforts made in controlling inflation.

"Hopefully the inflation will be maintained and meet the national target of 2.5% ± 1 percent in 2024. Inflation remains under control and we will continue to maintain it until next year," said Teguh.

Teguh added that rice stock in Jakarta for Christmas and New Year is adequate for the next three to four months. Bulog also has stock for the next six months as well as other necessities.

Meanwhile, Representative Office of Bank Indonesia (BI) Jakarta, Arlyana Abubakar explained November 2024 inflation rate was controlled within the target of 1.58 percent (yoy). Five main commodities contributing to Jakarta's monthly (mtm) inflation were shallots, tomatoes, gold jewelry, broiler chicken, and cooking oil.

"Five main commodities contributing to inflation in Jakarta on an annual basis (yoy) were gold jewelry, rice, oily cookies, house rent and household assistant wages," he explained.

According to him, inflation control efforts taken were implementing inter-regional cooperation, providing cheap market, urban farming, publishing information related to inflation on social media and mass media, and selling food products through various retail store channels.

"Jakarta TPID also monitors price developments and the adequacy of supply to maintain stable food prices in Jakarta," he added.
