Anticipating High Rainfall, BPBD to Modify Weather Starting Tomorrow

In order to anticipate high rainfall, Jakarta Regional Disaster Handling Agency (BPBD) to conduct weather modification operation starting Saturday (12/7) up to Monday (12/9).

Jakarta BPBD's Implementer Secretary, Marulitua Sijabat said the operation is aimed to follow up BMKG's predicted that high rainfall to fall in Jakarta.

"The modification is based on BMKG's predicted related to high rainfall on December 6 to 9," he said, Friday (12/6).

According to him, the modification is technically involving BMKG to reduce rainfall intensity.

It is hoped that the modification will be able to reduce rain intensity so that it will also minimize the impact.

Meanwhile, Jakarta BPBD's Handling and Operation Sub-group Head, Muhamad Thoufiq Hidayatuloh stated the operation is hoped to distribute the rainfall for not being focused in one area.

He added that his side can not determine the number of clouds that needed to be seeded in order to redistribute the rain. His side prepares the operational staff to carry out more than one flight in one day.

"Temporarily, many clouds will come from the west and southwest. The monitoring will be conducted during the operation," he stated.
