Transjakarta Operates 200 New Electric Buses

PT Transjakarta officially launched 200 new electric buses on Tuesday (12/10). By operating those buses, now Transjakarta operates 300 electric buses.

Acting Jakarta Governor, Teguh Setyabudi, welcomed the Transjakarta's effort as part of its commitment in providing environmentally friendly and sustainable public transportation.

"This is an important milestone as Jakarta's transformation into a global city with commitment in providing an environmentally friendly and sustainable transportation system," he said.

Teguh added that Transjakarta has commitment to reach 100 percent of electric armada by 2030. That is why the electrification acceleration and expansion of modern charging facilities in various strategic locations is needed.

Teguh invites all society elements to support a sustainable transportation system development in Jakarta. At the same moment, he appreciated all parties involved in this new fleet procurement.

He hopes the vision of becoming a city that is oriented towards public transportation and committed to environmental sustainability can be reached through cooperation between the government, operators and community.

This makes Jakarta a role model in the development of sustainable urban transportation system by providing safe, comfortable and environmentally friendly transportation services.

PT Transjakarta Director, Welfizon Yuza said using electric buses is an important step in creating sustainable mobility in Jakarta. Inviting people to switch to public transportation, especially environmentally friendly ones is the main key to realize sustainability mobility.

Welfizon added Transjakarta operates 100 electric buses on feeder route since 2023.

"We continue the effort this year by launching new 200 electric fleets. Aside from a technical achievement, it is also a transformation towards greener transportation.

He added that the use of electric buses is also considered more efficient and saves operational costs.

"Operational costs can be reduced by 5 to 10 percent, then 18 to 20 percent on saving the fuel subsidy," he added.

As for information, the 200 new electric buses procurement is Transjakarta's collaboration with several domestic and foreign operators.

Perum Damri operates 60 Skywell electric buses and 30 buses from Zongtong. Then PT Bianglala Metropolitan operates 90 buses of Sinar Armada Globalindo or Golden Dragon. New operator namely PT Sinar Jaya operates 20 buses of PT VKTR Teknologi Mobilitas or BYD.
