Coastal Area Development to Strengthen Jakarta as a Global City, Khoirudin Says

Jakarta City Council Chairman, Khoirudin said Jakarta's transformation into a global city can be strengthened by developing the norther coastal area as a strategic project.

Khoirudin added that tourism and business area to be developed there. A Special Economic Zone (KEK) will be provided on the north coast that can attract investment and facilitate people's economic activities.

"A Spceial Economic Zone with easy and cheap economic activities. Hopefully it becomes a comfortable and competitive shopping place for Jakarta and Southeast Asian residents in North Jakarta," Khoirudin said, Saturday (1/4).

Khoirudin positively support the Jakarta's vision to become a global city that is equal with the world's major cities. Jakarta is worthy of being a global and business city ahead of its 500th anniversary.

According to him, Jakarta's vision of becoming a global city is in line with the Regional Regulation (Perda) on the Regional Long-Term Development Plan (RPJPD) and the Regional Spatial Planning Regulation (RTRW).

"Regional Regulation on the Regional Long-Term Development Plan and Regional Spatial Planning Regulation are prepared to welcome Jakarta as a global city," he added.

He explained that community readiness is also required to transform Jakarta as a global city. Developing Jakarta also requires the global city index as a measurement.

"We must be ready from the regulation, economic, and community side as an opportunity and s challenge for all of us," he stated.
