Jakarta Intensifies Prevention Education as Fire Case Declines

Jakarta Provincial Government's data says that the number of fire cases in Jakarta along 2024 reached 788 cases . The number is 8.8 percent lower compared to previous year by 864 cases.

Based on the data, electrical short circuit was still the main fire cause by 540 cases in 2024. The number is also lower compared to 2023 by 607 cases.

Then fire caused by cylinder gas also declined from 116 cases in 2023 to be 32 cases in 2024.

In term of damage, house was remain the highest case by 1,382 houses in 2024, then semi permanent building 487 units, and kiosk/office-house by 440 units.

Jakarta Acting Head of Fire Handling and Rescue Agency, Satriadi Gunawan said thanks to joint efforts from Jakarta Provincial Government ranks in conducting socialization and education to residents for reducing the fire cases.

"The decline is result of fire prevention campaign," he said, Monday (1/6).

According to him, the agency together with related agencies and instances keep running the emergency preparedness training, fire simulation, and education related to electrical short circuit and cylinder gas.

Satriadi added that his side keeps targeting to suppress fire case through collaboration between government, community and stakeholder.

"Creating a safer environment can be created through public awareness in complying with fire safety protocols," he stated.
