Ten Urban Villages in C. Jakarta Targeted to Be Free of ODF This Year

Central Jakarta Mayor, Arifin targets ten urban villages to be free from Open Defecation Free (ODF) this year. 

At the sub-district level, only Cempaka Putih is already free of ODF

"To reach this target, all urban villages and sub-districts must conduct data collection and direct inspections of each resident's house that does not have a septic tank," he expressed, Wednesday (1/15).

Hence, he instructed the Satpol PP Head and its staff, as well as the urban village head and health center to directly monitor the homes of residents who were still defecating in the drains.

Meanwhile, the Central Jakarta Health Sub-agency recorded that until December 2024, as many as 26,500 households were still in the ODF category.

Central Jakarta Health Sub-agency Head, Rismasari explained that until early 2025, five out of 44 urban villages were free from ODF, namely Cempaka Putih Barat, Cempaka Putih Timur, Rawasari, Gondang Dia, and Duri Pulo.

"At the sub-district level, only Cempaka Putih is already free of ODF," she added.

She explained the data above was the result of monitoring and field interviews conducted since 2018 and was always updated every month.

To solve it quickly, her party would take a declaration of commitment from the urban village.

"This declaration will show the commitment to resolution from the urban village and sub-district levels together with the community," she closed.
