Commodities Supply in E. Jakarta Ahead of Chinese New Year Relatively Safe

The supply and price of various commodities at traditional market in East Jakarta is relatively stable ahead of Chinese New Year on January 29, 2025. The increase only occurs for chili.

East Jakarta Food Security, Marine and Agriculture Sub-agency Head, Taufik Yulianto said the stable supply and price of commodities are rice, cooking oil, fish, beef and chicken meat.

Meanwhile, chili price is increasing from Rp 5 thousand to Rp 20 thousand. The prices of onion and garlic are remain stable at Rp 40-45 thousand per kilogram.

"The egg price is declining from Rp 30-28 thousand per kilogram," he said, Thursday (1/16).

Taufik explained that his side has cooperated with PT. East Seed West Indonesia (Panah Merah)'s CSR since 2023, and the sub-agency has launched the Rawita Peti program to handle the increase of chili price.

"Rawita Peti program aims to strengthen the food security and decline inflation," he added.

As in 2024, his side also involved the residents to use their land with urban farming activity. The residents were appealed to plant chili, onion, vegetables and fruits.

"We appeal the residents to plant chili, onion, tomato, eggplant, vegetables, and fruits," he stated.
