Decent Housing Program Targets Densely Populated Area in Johar Baru

Jakarta Provincial Government together with Ministry of Housing and Residential Area, Home Affairs Ministry, and Buddha Tzu Chi Foundation cooperate to arrange residential area by launching Decent Housing Program at RT 10/12, Tanah Tinggi Urban Village, Johar Baru Sub-district, Central Jakarta.

Acting Jakarta Governor, Teguh Setyabudi said nine underprivileged residents' houses will be renovated by Buddha Tzu Chi Foundation.

"Hopefully other parties will join in similar program for the sake of people's welfare," he said, Monday (1/20).

Central Jakarta Mayor, Arifin, admitted his side had conducted socialization with heads of sub-district and urban village, RT/RW, LMK and related residents.

"Previously, a vertical housing was already built and launched in September 2024. Some of families already occupy the house," he admitted.

According to him, his side has collected data of residents in Johar Baru Sub-district for this program.

"Totally 81 underprivileged resident's houses will be arranged. It includes nine house in Tanah Tinggi Urban Village," he added.

The Minister of PKP, Maruarar Sirat explained the nine houses renovation in Tanah Tinggi will take six months.

"Nine families whose houses are being renovated will get assistance to rent house from Buddha Tzu Chi Foundation," he stated.
