Residents Appreciated Krukut River Dredging in Cilandak Timur

The dredging of Krukut River in Cilandak Timur Urban Village, Pasar Minggu Sub-district by South Jakarta Water Resources Sub-agency is appreciated by residents.

One of the residents living at RW 03, Cilandak Timur Urban Village, Jayadi (56), hopes the dredging will be able to prevent inundation or flood at the residential or Jalan NIS which caused by the river's overflow.

"We appreciate the government's effort in handling inundation. The sub-agency is not only dredging the river, but also repairing the water channels around here," he said, Wednesday (1/22).

Meanwhile, South Jakarta Water Resources Sub-agency Head, Santo said the dredged mud sediment and waste reached 80-120 cm.

"The river has been dredged very often. The last dredging was on January 16," he said.

Santo explained the 50 meter-long dredging is targeted to complete on February 28. The work is run carefully to avoid the heavy equipment hitting the resident's house or triggering landslide.

"The river water could go up suddenly due to rainy season," he added.

Santo hopes the dredging will prevent inundation and flood at RT 09/03.
