Jakarta City Council's Commission D Chairwoman, Yuke Yurike appeals the electrical installation, especially at densely populated areas, to be tightened to prevent fire incident triggered by electrical short.

Yuke said that the State Electricity Company (PLN) must continuously conduct raids and control electrical installations that are not installed according to standards, includes electronic devices that do not have SNI.

Yuke also reminds the importance of fire extinguisher to be placed in every RT/RW. The fire extinguisher infrastructures must also be ensured to function well and accessible.
"It is important to conduct routine inspection to minimize fire incident in prone areas," she added.
She requests government to also intensify the education to society in RT/RW level in form of socialization, fire evacuation simulation, and social media campaign.
"The socialization includes how to use the extinguisher, and emergency steps to be taken when fire incident occurs," she continued.
By involving the society in community-based programs actively, Yuke assessed, it will also help to prevent fire incident. As the example, fire awareness groups in RT/RW level is formed to monitor potential risks in their areas.
"Government may also give incentive for community or society who show their commitment in preventing their environment from fire incident such as award or safety facility support," she stated.
