Commission D Supports 24-Hour Park Activation in Jakarta

Jakarta DPRD Commission D Legislator, Bun Joi Phiau, welcomed the plan to open Jakarta parks for 24 hours.

According to him, such plan is a progressive step in opening public spaces as a means for sports, creative activities, and community interaction.

"Until now, residents long for public spaces that can be used optimally," he expressed, Monday (2/3).

He explained Jakarta residents are a communal society that is interested in gathering. He believes that providing 24-hour parks will be well received a positive response.

He emphasized the importance of enhancing security in parks, one of which is by adding closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras and security officers.

"Including the availability of facilities such as adequate waste bins to good lighting," he explained.

He also proposed that the Jakarta Government hold socialization for residents to instill awareness and build a culture of creating collective security.

"There must also be heavy sanctions for those who violate the park regulations," he asserted.

As information, the elected Governor, Pramono Anung, promised that five parks in Jakarta will operate 24 hours a day as places for creativity and entertainment for residents. Those parks include Literasi Park, Langsat Park, and Lapangan Banteng Park.
