Commission D: Residents Must Maintain Public Facilities

Jakarta Legislative Council (DPRD) Commission D Legislator, Bun Joi Phiau urges the public not to damage social and public facilities (fasos-fasum) for personal gain.

According to him, the recent viral trend of hunting for Jagat Coins as it provides prizes worth millions of rupiah harms the destruction of public facilities during the hunt.

"Surely, we are very concerned about the damage caused to social and public facilities, including parks," he expressed, Tuesday (1/13).

He explained public facilities were built for the common good, thus everyone has a responsibility to jointly look after and care for them.

"We must be aware of maintaining public facilities," he explained.

Therefore, he suggested that the Jakarta City administration provide education and outreach through social media, communities, and schools, to increase public awareness and responsibility in using public facilities.

"Increasing digital literacy to ensure people understand the impact of online activities on the real world, including the ethics of playing location-based games," he added.

He also suggested that app developers include educational messages about players' responsibilities.

"And also strengthening security at social and public facilities locations by related parties," he asserted.

He even supports technology development with clear regulations and strict supervision to minimize negative impacts.

"Don't cause damage to public facilities and other disadvantages," he said.
