Channels Dredging in Monas Area to Be Completed by March

Channel dredging work on Jalan Medan Merdeka Utara, Selatan, and Jalan Medan Merdeka Barat carried out by Central Jakarta Water Resources (SDA) Sub-agency personnel since early February is targeted to be completed by mid-March.

Central Jakarta SDA Sub-agency's Drainage Maintenance Section Head, Citrin Indriati conveyed that the work is divided into three segments according to the road location. Each segment has different length, height, and width.
Batu Ampar and Induk River Connecting Channels DredgedFor Jalan Medan Merdeka Utara segment, the dredged channel has a length of 700 meters with a height of 60-80 centimeters and a width around 60 centimeters. The dredging work began on Thursday (2/6) and was completed on Thursday (2/13).
"The dredging on Jalan Medan Merdeka Utara is involving 14 task force personnel," she added, Monday (2/17).
Next, the channel on Jalan Medan Merdeka Barat segment has a length of 810 meters with a height of 80 centimeters and a width of 2 meters. The current progress has touched around 25 percent.
Meanwhile, channel on Jalan Medan Merdeka Selatan has a length of 100 meters, a width of 50 centimeters and a height of 90 centimeters and the dredging progress has reached 22 percent.
"We are targeting all dredging work to be completed by march 15 at least," he asserted.
Central Jakarta SDA Sub-agency Head, Adrian Mara Maulana explained, the channel dredging work in Monas area was carried out to overcome blockages that often trigger inundation when heavy rain falls.
"Dredging is carried out to ensure rainwater flows well into the surrounding macro channels," he stated.
