Traffic diversion has been applied on Jalan Jatinegara Barat, Kampung Melayu Urban Village, Jatinegara Sub-district, East Jakarta, due to the overflow of the Ciliwung River flooding Jalan Jatinegara Barat.

Avoid crossing Jalan Jatinegara Barat

Jatinegara Sub-district Transportation Executing Unit Head, Agustang said vehicles from Kampung Melayu towards Matraman were directed towards Jalan Jatinegara Timur via the traffic light in front of Santa Maria School or Jalan Jatinegara Barat 1.

Then they could head across the front of the East Jakarta Metro Police Station and turn left in front of Koinonia Church against the flow, and then proceed to Jalan Raya Matraman.

"10 personnel are deployed to join the police to regulate traffic and direct drivers," he expressed, Tuesday (3/4).

Currently, Jalan Jatinegara Barat cannot be passed, neither on the left nor right lane. Meanwhile, the busway lane is still accessible for Transjakarta buses until 1:30 PM.

"That's why we apply traffic diversion for mutual convenience," he explained.

He called on drivers to obey traffic signs and directions from officers.

"Avoid crossing Jalan Jatinegara Barat," he added.

East Jakarta Transportation Sub-agency's Operation Section Head, Riki Erwinda added optimization of personnel deployment was done on several flooded roads or prone to flooding.

"Dozens of our personnel have been deployed on Jalan Jatinegara Barat, Jalan Jatinegara Timur, Pasar Rebo Intersection, Hek Intersection, and Jambul Cililitan Intersection. We're optimizing, especially as it is now approaching the end of the workday," he said.
