Jakarta recorded a deflation of -0.29 percent in February 2025 (month-to-month), -1.79 percent (year-to-date), and -0.59 percent (year-on-year). This deflation was driven by the decline in prices of electricity tariffs, red onions, cayenne pepper, red chilies, and tomatoes.

"Historically, during Ramadhan and Idulfitri public holiday, food commodities experience volatility, primarily driven by increases in beef, chicken, chicken eggs, red onions, garlic, granulated sugar, and cooking oil," he explained.

He asserted the Jakarta Government is committed to achieving the national inflation target and controlling inflation during Ramadhan and Idulfitri. According to the Home Ministry's directive, Market Operations will be conducted with the commodities of Minyakita, garlic, consumer sugar, frozen buffalo meat, and SPHP rice.

Market operations need to be conducted considering food needs in Jakarta are expected to increase during Ramadhan and Idulfitri with the highest increase in beef prices at 17.38 percent.

As for the availability of 3-kg LPG during Ramadhan and Idulfitri is sufficient, with the distribution realization of 3-kg LPG until February 2025 reaching 67,668 metric tons or 16.53 percent. Thus, the remaining quota is 341,576 metric tons or 83.47 percent of the 2025 allocation quota of 409,244 metric tons.

To ensure the readiness of food stock for Ramadhan and Idulfitri, the Jakarta Government is monitoring the stock of strategic food commodities at Perumda Dharma Jaya, Cipinang Rice Main Market, and PT Food Station Tjipinang Jaya.

Aside that, the Jakarta Government would also increase the quota for distributing subsidized food for certain communities in March 2025. He also urged the public not to panic buy and to shop wisely.

"Conducting effective communication to the public includes informing them that the food supply in Jakarta is sufficient and encouraging them not to panic buy and to shop wisely," he added.

"By carrying out cooperation between regions, implementing urban farming, holding cheap markets, and other inflation control programs," he stated.
