Kampung Siaga Bencana Ready to Assist Flood Survivors

Jakarta Social Agency has activated the Kampung Siaga Bencana (KSB) to assist residents impacted by flood in several areas of Jakarta.

Jakarta Social Agency Head, Premi Lasari said there are 91 KSBs in Jakarta. For now, 13 KSBs have been activated on the most impacted areas namely 6 KSBs in East Jakarta and 7 KSBs in South Jakarta.
"KSB is activated in prone to flood urban villages to assist the flood survivors, especially food. KSB is formed and fostered by Jakarta Provincial Government," Premi said, Thursday (3/6).

KSB is a community group formed and fostered by Jakarta Social Agency to respond disaster in their own environment. KSB volunteer plays role in collecting victim data, assistance distribution, and up to public kitchen management.
"KSB volunteer works together with RW and local urban village head. They act early to collect the data, cooking food, and provide distribution patterns. Then it will be submitted to Social Agency/Sub-agency," she explained
.According to the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency's prediction, high rainfall intensity to happen up to March 20, 2025. Because of that, Social Agency prepares anticipation strategy by activating KSB along Ciliwung Riverbank such as Bale Kambang, Kampung Melayu, Cawang, Cililitan and Bidara Cina.
"Local KSB will remain standby if the Ciliwung River water increases. They will cooperate with RW and urban village heads to ensure the assistance preparation," she added.
Premi continued the assistance distribution is challenging due to Ramadan month. Jakarta Social Agency must be able to deliver meal for sahur at 1 AM, and for breakfasting lately at 4 PM.
"Hopefully the KSB activation will accelerate the evacuation and assistance distribution for residents impacted by flood," Premi closed.
