Gov Pramono: Flood Refugees' Needs at Otista GOR Are Met

Jakarta Governor, Pramono Anung, directly visited the evacuation site for residents affected by the flood at Otista Sport Hall (GOR), East Jakarta, Wednesday (3/5).

In his visit, he ensured that the refugees received the best service by meeting their needs.

"Alhamdulillah (thank God), they get the best and sufficient service. There is enough food, they can also break their fast and eat sahur sufficiently, even more according to them," he expressed, Wednesday (3/5).

He also urged residents to be wary of the forecast for extreme rainfall in Jakarta from March 11 to 20. In this regard, the Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) in collaboration with BMKG would conduct Weather Modification Operations (OMC) to reduce high rainfall.

"We are ready to anticipate rainfall from March 11 to 20 as reported by BMKG," he explained.

Even, his party would keep coordinating with BMKG and BPBD to monitor weather conditions and take the necessary steps, as well as keep dredging and normalizing rivers as a long-term effort to anticipate flooding. Hopefully, it could give the best results.

"I've instructed the relates agency heads, especially the Head of Water Resources Agency (SDA), for the medium-term normalization program, including dredging, channeling, and so on to continue," he asserted.

East Jakarta Mayor, Iin Mutmainnah uttered the Jakarta Government had coordinated with various parties to meet the needs of evacuees, from food logistics, daily necessities to medicines.

"From the needs starting from logistics for sahur meals, breaking the fast, as well as daily necessities like diapers, milk, blankets, sleeping mats, and medications because health monitoring is done 24 hours a day," she explained.
