North Jakarta Water Resources (SDA) Sub-agency raised the existing embankment along the coast of Kampung Marunda Pulo, Jalan Marunda Pulo, RW 07, Marunda Urban Village, Cilincing Sub-district.
"We deploy 60 blue troops personnel to install geobags,"
North Jakarta SDA Sub-agency Head, Ahmad Syaiful said, the embankment has been raised by 50 centimeters and widened by one meter along 50 meters using sand-filled geobags.
City Government to Construct Dike in Anticipating Tidal Wave"Previously, there was already an embankment with height of one meter at the location. Now, the height will be 1.5 meters," he mentioned, Monday (3/17).
At the end of last year, the surrounding area was submerged by tidal floods up to around 50 centimeters. In order to prevent this from happening again, the embankment has been raised.
"We deploy 60 blue troops personnel to install geobags. This work has began on March 14 and targeted to be completed on March 27," he stated.
According to him, hundreds of Geobags were gathered and placed in a gabion to strengthen the embankment structure.
"Hopefully, by raising the embankment, it will be able to withstand the tidal wave, ensuring the settlements remain safe from flooding," he expressed.
On the other hand, Wahid (32), a resident of RT 01/07 Marunda Pulo stated that when tidal flood occurs, two RTs in the neigborhood are usually affected.
"Usually, RT 01 and 02 are inundated with sea water, which can exceed 50 centimeters," he added.
He appreciated North Jakarta SDA's blue troops for raising the embankment because it could reduce the potential of tidal flooding affecting the residential area.
"I appreciate the government's quick action to pre
vent flooding in our area. The sheet pile and geobag are definitely very effective in holding back the tidal waves," he conveyed.
