Welcoming Ramadan, the city administration is going to prepare 36 tons of beef and 19,500 chicken meats to be sold with affordable price in the Cheap Market. Its purchase is through coupon system.

This event is one of government's efforts to control the price before Eid ul Fitr and facilitate the residents in getting best quality beef and chicken meat

Head of Jakarta Marine, Agriculture, and Food Security Department, Darjamuni said the Cheap Market is an annual activity to facilitate people in getting beef and chicken meat with affordable price, quality, safe and halal.

"This event is one of government's efforts to control the price before Eid ul Fitr and facilitate the residents in getting best quality beef and chicken meat," he disclosed, Friday (6/12).

He continued, this year, the underprivileged people are provided subsidies in the form of beef by Rp 50,000/kg and chicken meat Rp 25,000/kg.

"Last year, we provided the beef price from Rp 100,000/kg to Rp 30,000/kg. In this year, we provide beef Rp 50,000/kg from normal price by Rp 85,000-90,000/kg," he explained.

He added the fund that prepared to subside the beef and chicken meat is reaching Rp 2.3 billion. The market that falls on D-4 to D-2 before Eid ul Fitr can be carried out over cooperation between PD Dharma Jaya and Animal Slaughterhouses Unit (UP-RPH).

Head of Food Security and Counseling Section for Jakarta Marine, Agriculture, and Food Security Department, Sri Haryati added through coupon, the residents can buy the meat and chicken meat in 5 municipalities and 1 regent.

"To get coupon, the resident must undergo verification process first opened by urban village side. We will also do rechecking," she told.

She details, the amount of beef coupon is 36,437 sheets and 19,500 other sheets for chicken meat. Surely, it can be used in the market.

"Besides urban village offices all over Jakarta, the market will also open in the Marunda and Muara Baru Flats," she disclosed.
