Pramono Hopes Jabodetabek Flood Handling to Be Better with Cooperation Improvement

Jakarta Governor, Pramono Anung said government will make cooperation of flood handling from upstream to downstream. The cooperation will be run by involving Jakarta Provincial Government, West Java, and Banten.

It was said by Pramono after attending a ministerial-level meeting about short and medium-terms flood risks handling and reducing at the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture Building.
"It will be discussed with West Java, Jakarta, and Banten from the upstream to downstream," Pramono said, Thursday (3/27).

"As for medium-term effort, Jakarta is ready to normalize Ciliwung River. We'll announce it later after Eid," he stated.
Pramono hopes flood management in the Jabodetabek areas can be more organized and better through cooperation and steps that have been prepared. Jakarta Provincial Government will run flood management based on the PSN guidelines.
"The PSN has been prepared and Jakarta is included there," he added.
As for short-term effort, Jakarta Provincial Government has prepared 586 stationary pumps at 204 locations, 527 mobile pumps, and blue taskforce personnel. Jakarta Provincial Government is also to run dredging for channels, reservoirs, and artificial lakes at 45 locations with volume target 1.1 million meter cubic. Tidal wave mitigation dike will also be constructed at tidal wave prone areas such as Muara Angke, Muara Baru, Pluit Baywalk, and Marunda Pulo.
Then for mid-term flood handling efforts are continuing infrastructure development in the National Strategic Project, accelerating the normalization of the Ciliwung River, and completing the construction of the NCICD.
