Residents: ASN Using Public Transportation Reduces Congestion in Jakarta

Jakarta residents appreciate the Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung's policy, which requires civil servants and workers under the Jakarta Government and Regional-Owned Enterprises (BUMD), to use public transportation from home to the office every Wednesday. This is because it can parse traffic congestion.

Usually, it takes me one hour and 15 minutes to get to the office

As stated by one of the residents of Sawangan Depok, Ahmad Faiz Rivai, he feels that the streets of Jakarta today are less crowded than usual because many civil servants are using public transportation.

Of course, this condition made his trip time from home in Sawangan to his office on Jalan Gatot Subroto faster.

"Usually, it takes me one hour and 15 minutes to get to the office. But, today, it only took 45 minutes," he expressed, Wednesday (5/7).

He added that Jakarta tends to be more congested compared to before the civil servants' policy to use public transportation. He hoped this could continue so that it also impacts the improvement of air quality.

"Usually, the traffic in South Jakarta is congested. But, today, it feels sparse," he asserted.

The same statement also came from a resident of Pondok Kelapa, Rizki Hidayat. He admitted, he arrived at the office faster than usual, which usually takes him one and a half hours to get to his office in Tebet.

"I just had some errands in Pasar Minggu area after leaving the office. The traffic was smooth with only a slight obstruction at the Pancoran traffic light," he stated.
