Pramono Launches Tunnel Boring Machine, MRT Phase 2A Targeted for Completion in 2029

Jakarta Governor, Pramono Anung, officially launched the MRT Jakarta's Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) 1 CP 202 at the CP 202 project area, Harmoni Station, Friday (5/9).

This launch marks the beginning of the 1,195-meter underground tunnel drilling, which is an important part of the MRT Jakarta Phase 2A construction from Harmoni to Mangga Besar.

"Today, I launched Tunnel Boring Machine 1 CP 202 Jakarta MRT North-South Line," he expressed.

He expressed his appreciation to the Japanese Ambassador to Indonesia, PT MRT Jakarta, and all related parties for their synergy in supporting the advancement of the MRT Jakarta project, particularly Phase 2A, which has currently reached a progress of 48.14 percent.

He hoped that this cooperation would continue to operate Phase 2A following the target in 2029. The construction of the Jakarta MRT Phase 2A is a continuation of the successful operation of Jakarta MRT Phase 1, which connects Lebak Bulus to Bundaran HI.

He ensured that the rail-based transportation in Jakarta would keep beint developed, thus residents have various eco-friendly and comfortable transportation options.

He also hoped that the cooperation that has been made with various parties could run well, especially through the Shimizu Adhi Karya Joint Venture (SAJV).

"Ongoing attention and support from the Japanese government are essential, thus the phase 2A and other contract packages can proceed on the target," he added.

This project is expected to resolve congestion and realize a more integrated and efficient transportation system in Jakarta. By doing so, the availability of comfortable transportation can encourage residents to switch to public transport.

Further, the progress of the work is currently faster than planned and is expected to be completed on time.

"I hope this can be completed by 2029. Phase 2A has already connected from Lebak Bulus to Kota. So, Lebak Bulus - Bundaran HI and Kota," he hoped.
