E. Jakarta KPKP Begins Examining Qurban Animals

East Jakarta Food Security, Marine and Agriculture (KPKP) Sub-agency starts to check the sacrificial (Qurban) animals ahead of Eid ul Adha this year.

The checking are focused in Kramat Jati and Pasar Rebo by involving seven sub-agency personnel and district's implementer unit.

East Jakarta KPKP Sub-agency Head, Taufik Yulianto said the examination is carried out to ensure the health of the animals is safe from various diseases. Especially zoonotic diseases that can be transmitted to humans.

"The sacrificial animals examination is aimed to monitor and control anthrax disease," he said, Wednesday (5/14).

Currently, he added, Jakarta area is free from anthrax. But his side needs to be vigilant against the threat.

Meanwhile, East Jakarta KPKP Sub-agency's Animal Husbandry and Health Section Head, Theresia Ellita, explained these animal health monitoring includes taking blood and soil samples in the animal pen area.

"Blood samples are tested in the laboratory. The results come out after three days of the examination," she explained.

Dedi Hidayat (57), one of qurban animal sellers on Jalan Kalisari II, RT 11/02 Kalisari, Pasar Rebo thanked East Jakarta KPKP Sub-agency for examining his animals.

"It's a good program for us," he admitted.

He continued that he started selling cattle on May 1, 2025. There were 103 cattle from Bali that he sold at a price range of Rp 18 million-30 million.

Zaenal (45), qurban animals seller on Jalan Kumbang RT 09/06 Batu Ampar, Kramat Jati said hot weather conditions affect the health of sacrificial animals. However, these conditions have been anticipated by giving vitamins and herbal medicine to animals.

"Officers routinely check the animals I sell and they also give vaccines. So this is very helpful," he said.
