Jakarta City Council Vice Chairwoman, Rany Mauliani appreciated Jakarta Health Agency for launching JakCare, an innovation in digital-based mental health services.
This service allows residents to gain access to psychological consultations that are free, safe and available for 24 hours by phone.
Rany assessed that the presence of services such as JakCare is very relevant amidst the increasing cases of mental health disorders. She highlighted that many mental disorders do not show visible symptoms.
JakCare, Free Online Mental Health Consultation for Residents"The behavior is fine but the heart and mind are actually not fine. It could be caused by pressure, or heavy thought. This makes the impact is unpredictable," she said, Thursday (5/22).
She also supports this 24-hour counseling service because she believes it can help ease the burden of residents who are experiencing mental stress or depression.
Rany hopes that the psychologists of JakCare will be able to guide residents to remain sane and emotionally stable.
"People who suffer from depression or severe stress usually do not know who to share their stories with. They are afraid of one-sided judgement or the people they share with can not be trusted. It makes them feel more depressed and guilty," she explained.
According to her, appropriate and competent professional staff in handling this service is important.
