Pramono to Kick Off Jakarta's 498th Anniversary Celebration at Blok M Tomorrow

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung will kick off the Jakarta's 498th anniversary celebration at Blok M on Saturday, May 24, 2025.

"Blok M will be a new hub for Jakarta,"

According to him, Blok M was chosen to launch the event because it aligns with the city's long-term vision to make Blok M as a new hub and center for economy development in the capital.

"Tomorrow, I will commence the series of Jakarta's anniversary event. It will begin in Blok M because we want to prepare Blok M for the long term. Blok M will be a new hub for Jakarta, prepared thoroughly," he stated.

He revealed that selecting Blok M as the anniversary launch site also aligns with the breoader plan to revitalize the area, including rearrangement in three main parks, namely Ayodya, Langsat, and Leuser.

In addition, the arrangement will also target restaurants around Blok M, which are considered as the area's economic strength.

"Hopefully, with the ongoing arrangement, the Blok M area, which is now the site of ASEAN headquarters, will be improved for long-term interests," he expressed.

For information, the launch of Jakarta's 498th Anniversary themed 'Jakarta, a Global and Cultural City' will take place at Martha Christina Tiahahu Literacy Park, Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta, on Saturday, May 24, 2025.

The launch marks the beginning of a month-long series of celebrations for Jakarta's anniversary. Key events include the inauguration of revitalized Blok M Hub area, the launch of the Jakarta Anniversary Event 2025, and ASEAN Fest.

The launch event will also feature various activities reflecting Jakarta's spirit of collaboration, creativity, and transformation toward becoming a world-class city.
