Construction of Borewell and Infiltration Well on Jalan Bukit Unggul Completed

This method is very good

The construction of a borewell and an infiltration well has been completed at Jalan Bukit Tunggul, RT 02/06, Pasar Manggis Urban Village, Setiabudi Sub-district.

South Jakarta Water Resources Sub-agency's Maintenance Section Head, Junjung said the wells construction is part of the groundwater conservation and flood control program.

Two Infiltration Wells Built on Untung Jawa Island

"Prior to the construction, we had already visited the site and discussed with the locals about the areas that sometimes experience flooding," he explained, Tuesday (5/27).

This was done to support optimal rainwater absorption, prevent flooding, and maintain groundwater reserves in urban areas.

"This work that involves eight personnel will be ongoing for five days," he explained.

He detailed, the borewell has a depth of 15 meters and a sediment layer thickness of about 80 centimeters. Meanwhile, the infiltration well has a diameter of 1.20 meters and a depth of three meters.

"This is the South Jakarta administration's commitment to realize a resilient, sustainable, and responsive environment to the challenges of climate change in Jakarta," he explained.

One of the locals, Toro (46) admitted borewell and infiltration well are very important, as they can provide complementary benefits, especially in the management of clean water and water conservation.

"This method is very good, the borewell provides access to groundwater and the infiltration well helps recharge the groundwater reserves, so they complement each other," he stated.
