City Government and Hotels Promote Betawi Culture to the Global Stage

Jakarta Provincial Government supports the Balairung Sedaya program as an effort to tighten collaboration in preserving Betawi art and culture. The program is run with several five-star hotels in Jakarta, including Borobudur Hotel.

The effort has shown progress

It is important to introduce and preserve Betawi culture due to its multicultural, thus it has strategic value on the global stage.

Jakarta City Council Commission E Member, Dina Masyusin welcomed the collaboration program, with the hotels. She assessed that this effort could be an effective way to introduce Jakarta identity to foreign tourists.

Jakarta Collaborates with Hotels to Preserve Betawi Culture

"Commission E has encouraged cooperation with business sectors, including hotels. We want the foreigners will immediately feel the typical atmosphere of Jakarta with Betawi cultural icons such as traditional music, ondel-ondel, and so on," she said, Friday (5/30).

Dina also appreciated Jakarta Provincial Government in strengthening Betawi culture through cross-sectors collaboration.

"The effort has shown progress. But it still requires attention from the city government to get broader impact," she added.

Then Dina hopes Betawi culture can be more well-known not only locally but also internationally.
