Launching 498th Anniversary, Pramono Targets Jakarta to Become a Cultured Global City"As we can see, what's behind the screen are just inanimate objects. However, when these inanimate objects are moved with heart, they tell stories about our country, Indonesia. They narrate tales of friendship and differences that can unite us in various languages," he said on Saturday (5/24).
Rano explained that this event also commemorates International Museum Day, highlighting Jakarta's diverse museums that deserve pride and affection.
"I also extend my gratitude to the Indonesian Puppetry Association (PEPADI) Jakarta and all parties who have supported this wayang performance. Let's watch this Public Wayang Kulit Performance together," he expressed.
According to him, museums in Jakarta, including those in Kota Tua area, now have extended opening hours on weekends, from 9 AM to 8 PM.
"In the past, museums were opened until 4 PM, but now the public can enjoy them into the evening. With public spaces remaining open until night, it's hoped that people will be more encouraged to visit museums," he conveyed.
Jakarta Culture Agency Head, Mochamad Miftahulloh Tamary, added that the event was realized through collaboration with PEPADI Jakarta Foundation.
"This performance features Betawi wayang kulit with the play 'Kumbakarna Gugur' performed by Dalang Ki Sentanu Wijaya and Surakarta wayang kulit with the 'Ramayana Story' by Dalang Ki H Gunarto Gunodipuro," he explained.
Meanwhile, PEPADI Jakarta Chairman, Agus Joko Riyono, expressed gratitude for the cooperation with the Jakarta Provincial Government and the presence of Jakarta Vice Governor Rano Karno, who attended and watched the wayang kulit performance.
"Wayang is an art and culture of Indonesia
. Certainly, our hope is that Jakarta will have its own wayang identity, but it requires a process. We hope this collaboration can be sustainable so that the art of wayang can continue to be preserved and maintained," he concluded.
