BPBD Reminds of Potential Landslides in Jakarta

Jakarta Regional Disaster Handling Agency (BPBD) appealed heads of urban village, district and community to remain anticipate potential of landslide during heavy rain in June 2025.

According to information of Center for Volcanology and Geological Disaster Mitigation (PVMBG), landslide potential to occur in several Jakarta areas based on the result of the overlay between the landslide vulnerability zone map and the monthly rainfall forecast map obtained from BMKG.

Jakarta BPBD's Implementer Head, Isnawa Adji, said those areas are in Middle Zone of potential landslide.

Disaster Response Education Given to Pejaten TImur Residents

"Landslide can occur if rainfall is above normal in the Middle Zone. Higher potential may occur in areas bordering with river valleys, escarpment, road cliff or if the slope gets disturbances," Isnawa said, Tuesday (6/3).

He appeals the heads of urban village and district, together with residents to actively check the area condition, especially area near with river.

"The BPBD TRC personnel in every urban village will also monitor together with urban village and district heads if there is condition needs handling from BPBD or related agencies," he added.

Jakarta BPBD also invites the public to plant trees in vulnerable locations and those with minimal vegetation. It aims to prevent landslide potential danger and minimize serious impact if heavy rain falls.

Based on the Center for Volcanology and Geological Disaster Mitigation (PVMBG), several areas in Jakarta are in the Middle Zone of potential landslides, namely:

1. South Jakarta; Cilandak District, Jagakarsa, Kebayoran Baru, Kebayoran Lama, Mampang Prapatan, Pancoran, Pasar Minggu and Pesanggrahan.

2. East Jakarta; Kramat Jati and Pasar Rebo
