The Jakarta Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) issued forecast information on areas prone to landslides in Jakarta, following the high intensity of rainfall in the last few days.
This can be done independently or collectively
As quoted by the Center for Volcanology and Geological Disaster Mitigation (PVMBG), several areas in Jakarta have the potential for land movement based on the overlay results between the landslide vulnerability zone map and the monthly rainfall forecast map obtained from BMKG.
Jakarta BPBD Acting Head, Isnawa Adji said some of those areas are located in the Medium Zone of potential landslides.
Collapsed Sheet Pile and Landslide on Jalan Adhyaksa to Be Repaired Soon"In the Medium Zone, land movement can occur if rainfall is above normal, especially in areas bordering river valleys, cliffs, road embankments, or if slopes are disturbed," he expressed, Thursday (5/8).
He urged the sub-district and urban village heads, along with the community, to actively check the conditions of their respective areas, especially those near river streams or with cliffs.
"Together with the TRC BPBD officers in each village, they conduct monitoring in case there are specific conditions that require handling," he explained.
Thereby, residents are urged to intensify tree planting in areas prone to landslides and already lacking vegetation to prevent potential landslide hazards.
It can also be done by making bronjong (gabions) and sheet piles if the land is sloping or has the potential to move or shift
"This can be done independently or collectively to minimize more serious impacts if heavy rain occurs. The locations that we have mapped are coordinated with the SDA Agency in the field. Disaster management must be comprehensive," he added.
Based on PVMBG, several areas in Jakarta are in the Medium-High Zone of potential for landslides:
1. Sourh Jakarta, covering sub-districts of Kecamatan Cilandak, Jagakarsa, Kebayoran Baru, Kebayoran Lama, Mampang Prapatan, Pancoran, Pasar Minggu, and Pesanggrahan
2. East Jakarta, covering areas of Kramat Jati and Pasar Rebo
