Pramono Ensures Readiness for Free Education in Jakarta

Jakarta Governor, Pramono Anung ensured the readiness of the Jakarta Government to implement the Constitutional Court's decision regarding free education in both public and private schools.

Jakarta actually already has a pilot project program for 40 private schools

He mentioned, Jakarta is currently running a pilot project of a free school program in 40 private schools.

"Because this has become the decision of the Constitutional Court, Jakarta actually already has a pilot project program for 40 private schools," he expressed, at Lippo Mall Nusantara, Jalan Jenderal Sudirman, Kav 50, South Jakarta, Wednesday (6/11).

Thus, he was confident that he could accelerate the free education program in Jakarta. Jakarta has advantages in human resources and financial independence to realize the program.

"Why can Jakarta be met? Because in Jakarta, we have the human resources and the financial aspects can also be independent," he explained.

He also highlighted the issue of diploma withholding that often occurs in private schools, which he believes will be resolved with the implementation of free education programs.

"The most important thing is there are no more diplomas being held back like in 6,652 private schools," he stressed.

He emphasized the Jakarta Government's commitment to ensuring that Jakarta children receive a proper right to education without being burdened by costs. Of course, this is the responsibility of the Jakarta Government

"It is the responsibility of the state, in this case, the Jakarta Government," he uttered.

As information, based on the decision of the Constitutional Court on Tuesday (5/27), the state is required to provide free basic education made by elementary schools, junior high schools, and madrasas or equivalent in public and private schools.
