Pramono: Jakarta's Transformation Must Be Run Comprehensively

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung, in front of Jakarta City Council members and leaders, stated that Jakarta's transformation must be carried out comprehensively by relying on economic competitiveness, environmental sustainability, and social welfare.

"Jakarta has traveled a long way to become the nation's capital, and is now transforming into a national economic center and a global city," Pramono said, during his speech at the Jakarta City Council Plenary Meeting, Sunday (6/22).

Pramono explained that Jakarta Provincial Government has implemented a number of priority programs, such as social assistance, opening access to clean water, transportation for residents in buffer areas, and strengthening services for the elderly and vulnerable groups. Those are run during the first 100 days of his administration.

Then there are the free tourism program for KJP Plus recipients, revitalization of Kota areas, and development of a digital system for decent housing as a form of inclusive and integrated public service.

"It is an effort to unite environmental sustainability, social welfare, and connectivity between urban spaces. So Jakarta's transformation is not just about modernization," he explained.

As a global city, he added, Jakarta must not be uprooted from its cultural roots. So it is important to maintain and nurture local culture apart from physical and economic aspects.

"We believe Jakarta will grow into a global city that remains stand on culture and togetherness," he added.

At the end of his speech, Pramono expressed his appreciation to all ranks of Jakarta Provincial Government, Jakarta City Council, and Jakarta people for their support in Jakarta development.

He also appreciated the achievement of Jakarta Provincial Government for receiving an Unqualified Opinion (WTP) from the Audit Board of Indonesia (BPK) for eight consecutive years.

"This is a reflection of joint commitment in maintaining transparency and accountability," he continued.

Pramono then invited all elements to build a more equal, resilient, and cultured Jakarta by making the 498th anniversary as a starting point.

"Happy 498th Anniversary, Jakarta," he stated.
