North Jakarta through Environmental Sub-agency has activated 52 organic waste processing centers by using Black Soldier Fly (BSF) spread in six districts.

Thousands of kilograms of organic waste can be processed monthly," he said, Tuesday (6/24).He added that there seven waste processing centers in Penjaringan District, 11 in Tanjung Priok, 12 in Kelapa Gading District, eight in Koja, and nine in Cilincing District.
"Not only from households, organic waste sent to the BSF center is also collected from the hotel, restaurant, and cafe (Horeka) in North Jakarta," he added.
Edy explained five horekas have cooperated to process the organic waste. About 23.7 tons of horeka's organic waste had been transported from January to May 2025.
Meanwhile, North Jakarta Secretary's Assistant of Economy and Development, Wawan Budi Rohman, stated North Jakarta is currently selected as a pilot project for national waste management.
According to him, his party has appealed urban village and district heads, as well as horekas to socialize the waste sorting, scheduled transportation, and using the BSF.
"Waste is not the government or janitor responsibility, but all elements must be involved," he stated.
