Six Infiltration Wells Built on Tidung Island to Face Rainy Season

The Seribu Islands Water Resources Sub-agency (SDA) is building six infiltration wells in the residential environment of RW 03 residents, Tidung Island Urban Village, South Seribu Islands.

It is targeted to be completed on July 9, 2025

Seribu Islands SDA Sub-agency Head, Mustajab said, the well was being built in RT 03, 04, and 05.

"Each RT will has two wells. This is done to anticipate flooding when it rains," he expressed, Monday (7/7).

As the initial stage, his team was building a drainage tank with 60 centimeters long, 40 centimeters wide, and 60 centimeters deep.

He added, those wells would be connected between one tank with another tank using a six -inch paralon pipe with 87.5 meters long.

"Previously we did the excavation first for the drainage tank. Then, it connected to the paralon and later the well will be closed manually," he explained.

This work has been ongoing since July 2, 2025, involving seven personnel.

"It is targeted to be completed on July 9, 2025. This well is one of our concrete steps in improving environmental infrastructure and drainage systems on residential islands," he added.

The work received appreciation from RT 04/03 Chairman, Tidung Island Urban Village, Nuraini.

"Very happy because the aspirations of residents are quickly responded by the local government. Alhamdulillah (thank God),hope this well can minimize flooding when it rains heavily or rob (tidal wave)," he closed.
