Pejaten Barat Urban Village Head, Asep Ahmad Umar, said the flood, which reached to 50-100 centimeters on Sunday (7/6) evening, had brought in trash and mud.

"Floodwater receded quickly that day. However, another round of rainfall caused Sarua River to overflow again and flood in residential area," he informed, Tuesday (7/8).

As the water has now receded, he immediately deployed 50 Public Facility and Infrastructure Handling (PPSU) personnel to assist the South Jakarta Fire Handling and Rescue (Gulkarmat) Sub-agency in cleaning the area.

"Our target is to have the area cleaned by this afternoon so residents can return to normal activities," he stated.

He also noted that aid distribution, especially food for flood victims, was carried out promptly.

"Thankfully, community support here is very strong. Some assistance even came from fellow residents. People are helping each other," he added.

On the other hand, Head of South Jakarta Gulkarmat Sub-agency, Syamsul Huda, said that four personnel and one portable pump with a 1,500-liter capacity were deployed to assist in clearing out post-flood mud.

"We use portable pump due to narrow road access that prevents fire trucks from reaching the location," he explained.
