LH Agency Ensures Post-flood Waste Handled Well

Jakarta Environment (LH) Agency Head, Asep Kuswanto stated that his team has conducted post-flood monitoring at several points along the Ciliwung River and ensured that the piles of waste were handled properly.

"W aste at several points along Ciliwung River has been cleared by orange troops on duty,"

For information, the Jakarta LH Agency visited five critical points along Ciliwung River in Jakarta, where waste had accummulated, namely TB Simatupang Garbage Filter, Ciliwung Crossing Inlet, Ciliwung Crossing Outlet, Kampung Melayu Bridge, and Manggarai Sluice Gate.

He said that two days after the flood hit several areas in Jakarta, the situation at points of Ciliwung River was under control.

According to him, waste at Ciliwung Crossing Outlet was dominated by wood, trees, and even cables. Orange troops and one heavy equipment were deployed to handle and transport the waste using truck.

"After visiting the site, waste at several points along Ciliwung River has been cleared by orange troops on duty. This will prevent the water flow from being blocked," he mentioned, Friday (3/7).

He praised the orange troops for their hard work in collecting garbage at several points along Ciliwung River. This effort demonstrates Jakarta LH Agency's commitment to managing waste along the river.

Previously, the LH Agency had deployed 5,000 orange troops personnel to anticipate piles of garbage carried by the river flow from Sunday (3/2) to Tuesday (3/4), handling over 2,000 tons of waste.
