According to him, collaboration with buffer areas is very important, considering that flooding occurred almost simultaneously in a number of areas around Jakarta.

The Jakarta Provincial Government has also taken a number of collaborative steps, such as expanding Transjabodetabek transportation services to encourage the development of surrounding areas, while reducing congestion and air pollution in Jakarta.
As the city flood handling, Rano added, his rank has determined locations along 14 km for river normalization.
"The areas have been signed by the Governor," he added.
Furthermore, Rano explained that flooding in Jakarta was caused by three main factors, namely tidal water from the sea, local rain and water sent from upstream areas such as Bogor.
