This flood anticipation has indeed been prepared since the beginning of the year
Jakarta SDA Agency Head, Ika Agustin Ningrum said, various mitigation steps were taken early on to minimize the impact of floods on the community.
"This flood anticipation has indeed been prepared since the beginning of the year, both through infrastructure strengthening and personnel readiness. Currently, all units and resources have been deployed in the field," she expressed, Wednesday (7/9).
Arifin Distributes Aid to Flood Survivors in Karet TengsinHer party operated 602 stationary pump units at 205 flood-prone spots, as well as deploy 573 mobile pumps spread across five administrative regions.
"The pumps are used to accelerate the transfer from the settlement to the main sewer and then to the sea," she explained.
To support direct field response, 7,000 personnel were deployed to the location to improve channel capacity and operate pumps.
"They move quickly to respond to residents' reports and ensure the water flow remains smooth," she explained.
They have also did extensive dredging to support the capacity of the river and reservoir.
As of June 30, 2025, the dredging volume reached 388,484 cubic meters at 200 strategic points, with the highest number of locations in East Jakarta (89 sites), followed by West Jakarta (41 sites), South Jakarta (31 sites), North Jakarta (21 sites), and Central Jakarta (18 sites).
"This is a medium-term preventive step that we continue to implement simultaneously, thus the capacity of the river and reservoir remains optimal," he stated.
