Construction of Water Channel on Jalan Bekasi Raya Timur Begins

The water channel using the jacking method on Jalan Bekasi Timur Raya, Jatinegara Kaum Urban Village, Pulo Gadung, East Jakarta, has begun construction. The initial phase of the work involves digging the installation site for the jacking.

The progress is only about two percent and is to finish by next October

At the project site, two heavy equipment units have been deployed for land excavation to create a starting pit or access for the water pipe using the jacking method. There are currently two excavation sites being worked on.

East Jakarta Water Resources (SDA) Sub-agency's Development Section Head, Tengku Saugi Zikri explained, the work has been started since July 6, 2025, and is targeted to be completed in October.

"This work is handled by a third party. The progress is only about two percent and is to finish by next October," he expressed, Thursday (7/17).

According to him, the channel is built to stop flooding in RW 02, Jatinegara Kaum Urban Village, and Jalan Bekasi Timur Raya.

He explained the channel would have a length of 807 meters divided into two systems, using U-ditch concrete and jacking. The starting point is in front of Mat Lengket food stall to Sunter River.

"Those using the U-ditch concrete have a length of 477 meters and a jacking system along 330 meters long," he explained.

Then the Work Executer, Poltak Johanes Nadeak stated that in overall, there are seven starting pit points to be excavated, and currently only two points are being worked on.

"Besides excavating the land for the starting pit, we will also conduct excavation for the installation of U-ditch concrete," he concluded.

As for the excavation for the U-ditch concrete is scheduled to begin on Saturday (7/19) morning, as the heavy equipment was only brought to the site on Friday (7/18) evening. It would later use U-ditch sizes of 40x40 centimeters, 80x80 centimeters, and 100x100 centimeters.

Also the excavation of the starting pit using the jacking system was executed to a depth of 6.5 meters, with dimensions of 4x6 meters and 4x4 meters.

"It takes about a week to complete this starting pit location point," he stated.
