Rano Invites Jakarta Residents to Adopt a Healthy Lifestyle

Jakarta Deputy Governor, Rano Karno, encourages the community to adopt a healthy lifestyle in their daily lives.

It is of no use for us to prosper if we are not healthy

He expressed this while giving encouragement at the Jakarta BERJAGA (Bergerak (Move), Bekerja (Work), Berolahraga (Exercise), and Bahagia (Happy)) 2.0 Campaign for 2025 on the Jakarta City Hall grounds, Friday (7/18).

"It is of no use for us to prosper if we are not healthy. The main point is health," he expressed.

As a form of commitment, the Jakarta Government mandated all Civil Servants (ASN) in Jakarta to exercise together every Friday morning at the City Hall.

He believed that regular exercise routines would improve the quality of life and work ethic.

"Governor's Instruction (Ingub) has been issued; we must exercise together here. I agree and we must do it. Because it's impossible to improve work ethic if health is compromised," he explained.

He explained, the public transportation usage policy every Wednesday also indirectly encourages civil servants to walk. According to him, this policy provides health benefits for himself and other civil servants because they have to move around to use public transportation.

"I live in Lebak Bulus, I go to the MRT station in Lebak Bulus, then walk to the station, ride the MRT, and walk again. It's a movement I rarely do," he admitted.

Jakarta Health Agency Head, Ani Ruspitawati stated, the health examination results for civil servants in 2024 show that 62 percent are obese, 15.4 percent are overweight, 27.6 percent have hypertension, 5.7 percent have diabetes mellitus, 24 percent are unfit, and 15 percent have mental health issues.

"Today's activity is group exercise as part of the Jakarta Berjaga campaign," she stated

Jakarta Berjaga Campaign 2.0 is an invitation for all Jakarta residents to work together to build healthy living habits. Therefore, Jakarta civil servants are expected to become role models in adopting a healthy lifestyle.

This is part of creating mental health. The campaign to exercise every Friday is hoped to encourage the community to become more aware of their health.
