Rano Inspects Location and Delivers Aid to Fire Victims in Bukit Duri

Jakarta Deputy Governor Rano Karno directly inspected the fire location on Jalan Kutilang, RT 06/02, Bukit Duri, Tebet, South Jakarta, Sunday (7/20).

I, representing the Jakarta Government, express my condolences 

Rano immediately went to the evacuation site on Jalan Katik RT 02/01 Bukit Duri, which is only about 20 meters from the incident location.

On that occasion, he provided some assistance in the form of monetary aid, school uniforms, and toddler necessities.

Govt Ensures to Fulfill Bukit Duri Fire Survivors' Needs

On behalf of the Jakarta Government, he expressed his condolences for the tragedy that claimed four lives and caused 16 families with 46 people to lose their homes.

"I, representing the Jakarta Government, express my condolences for the fire incident on Jalan Kutilang," he expressed.

His party had provided various forms of assistance to the fire survivors, including basic necessities, clothing, food, school supplies, and compensation for families who lost a family member.

For those whose houses had burned down, he proposed to Baznas Bazis to conduct house repairs so that residents could enjoy their lives again as before.

"With this incident, we call on all segments of society to be more vigilant and minimize fires," he explained.

As an anticipation step and to minimize fires in Jakarta, his party would optimize the movement of portable fire extinguishers (APAR) ownership in each RT in Jakarta. Additionally, regular monitoring of electrical installations in rented houses, boarding houses, and business premises.

Because nearly 90 percent of the fires occurring in Jakarta were caused by electrical short circuits. Then, almost all were due to human negligence. For instance, forgetting to unplug the phone charger, or other negligence factors.

On this occasion, Rano was accompanied by South Jakarta Mayor, Muhammad Anwar; Jakarta Social Agency Head, Iqbal Akbaruddin; Fire and Rescue Agency (Gulkarmat) Head, Bayu Megantara; Jakarta Social Welfare Assistant, Ali Maulana; and several other related officials.
