DPRD DKI Apresiasi Langkah Tegas Pemprov Tertibkan Parkir Liar

City Council Appreciates City Govt's Firm Steps to Tackle Illegal Parking

Committee Chairman for Parking DPRD Jakarta, Jupiter, appreciated the Jakarta Government's firm steps in regulating illegal parking practices that have long been complained about by the public.

Most of them are thugs who arbitrarily charge fees

Previously, Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung stated that he would deploy the Satpol PP to take firm action against illegal parking, following the viral case of a parking fee by Rp 10,000 in the Bundaran HI area, Central Jakarta.

According to him, illegal parking is rampant in various spots throughout Jakarta. In fact, many illegal parking attendants charge arbitrary fees without clear legal grounds.

Illegal Parking in Gambir and Sawah Besar Controlled

"Most of them are thugs who arbitrarily charge fees ranging from Rp 20,000, Rp 30,000, and even Rp 50,000. This is very disturbing and is clearly an illegal levy," he asserted, Tuesday (8/5).

He assessed, the crackdown on illegal parking must be accompanied by a digital system for on-street parking. By so, parking management will be more orderly, rates will be uniform, and will reduce illegal fees.

"Cashless payments must be implemented. With a digital system, rates can be set uniformly, transparently, and free from illegal practices. This will also have a positive impact on increasing local revenue," he explained.

He added, if managed with a good and modern system, the revenue potential from on-street parking in Jakarta is very high.
