Bendera Pusaka Park Set to Become South Jakarta's New Icon

Bendera Pusaka Park in Barito, Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta, is expected to become the new green open space (RTH) icon in South Jakarta. Its presence will not only please the eye but also support the city's sustainability and the social life of the urban community.

"...a symbol of Jakarta as a green and cultured global city,"

Bendera Pusaka Park will combine three existing parks, namely Langsat, Ayodia, and Leuser Parks, into a single 5.5-hectare green open space that serves ecological, social, aesthetic, and economy functions.

Built on land owned by the Jakarta Provincial Government and managed by the Jakarta City Parks and Forestry Agency (Distamhut), the park is located within the RTH 4 (Urban Village Park) and RTH 5 (RW Park) subzones and is categorized as part of the Kebayoran Baru Cultural Heritage preservation area.

New Facilities to Be Installed at Bendera Pusaka Park

Moreover, the location is strategic as it is close to Blok M Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) and serves as a growing hub of public activity, becoming an urban icon of Jakarta.

The tree parks combined cover a total area of approximately 55,281 square meters, consisting of Langsat Park (38,125 square meters), Ayodia Park (7,606 square meters), and Leuser Park (9,550 square meters). This area is also known as the "lungs" of South Jakarta and has long served as a public space for the local community.

In its development, connecting bridges will be built to integrate the entire are, allowing visitors to move between parks without crossing public roads.

Head of Jakarta Public Works, Spatial Planning, and Land (CKTRP) Agency, Vera Refina Sari, explained that this project is more than just a park renovation; it is a rebirth of Barito area into a more vibrant, inclusive, and multifunctional public space.

According to her, Bendera Pusaka Park will not only showcase beautiful landscaping but also manage the area's water system to control flooding, strengthen its ecological functions, and preserve local historical and cultural values.

"Hopefully, this park will boost social interaction among residents, support sports and arts community activities, and make it a symbol of Jakarta as a green and cultured global city," she said, Friday (8/8).

She mentioned that the park is highly accessible since it is close to public transport networks such as MRT, BRT, and Mikrotrans.

"This will encourage more people to use this open space for their daily activities," she added.

Vera noted that the construction of Bendera Pusaka Park is targeted to be completed by the end of 2025, funded through Floor Area Ratio (FAR) exceeding scheme. After this project, the Jakarta Provincial Government plans to continue similar transformations in other parks.

"With a new holistic and integrated concept, Bendera Pusaka Park is expected to become a new green open space icon in South Jakarta that not only pleases the eye but also supports the social life of the urban community," she concluded.
