89 Schools in North Jakarta Participate in the "Sekolahku Bersolek" Competition

89 state schools from elementary to high school level took part in the Sekolahku Bersolek (My School is Dressing Up) competition initiated by the North Jakarta Region I Education Sub-agency in order to welcome the 80th Anniversary of Indonesian Independence.

Head of North Jakarta Region I Education Sub-agency, Rona Eveliner Sianipar said this competition activity aims to increase the spirit of nationalism and love for the homeland, so that children and teachers are increasingly motivated in learning and working.

"The competition is decorating and cleaning school. Participants came from 89 state schools across the Tanjung Priok, Pademangan, and Penjaringan districts," he said, Thursday (8/14).

Rona explained that the competition will run from August 10 to 19. Each school must be creative in beautifying their school environment. A team of judges will then visit each school, scheduled for August 19 to 22.

"Judges will assess the cleanliness, beauty, creativity and others," she explained.

He hopes that this competition can encourage teachers, students and the school environment to raise environmental awareness and cultivate clean and healthy living habits.

"It also can increase cohesiveness and create a comfortable and enjoyable learning environment and foster a sense of shared responsibility," she added.

Abdul Rachman, the Vice Principal of SDN 01 Sunter Jaya, expressed his enthusiasm for the competition. Various red and white decorations and knick-knacks will be displayed throughout the school. Furthermore, his school is also cleaning and arranging the plants.

"Of course, we're optimistic to win the competition. We're still continuing to organize and decorate. The teachers and students are very enthusiastic," he admitted.
