Jakarta Light Festival and Gegap Gempita Kota Tua Enliven Indonesian Independence Day

Jakarta Provincial Government through the Tourism and Creative Economy Agency presents two special events to be enjoyed for free in Kota Tua. The events are presented to enliven the celebration of the 80th Anniversary of the Indonesian Independence Day.

Those two events namely Jakarta Light Festival on August 15-17, 2025 and Gegap Gempita Kota Tua on August 16-17, 2025.

The Jakarta Light Festival will be enlivened by a number of famous artists such as Lia Callia, Om Abidin, Republik 21, Fizza Bela, and special performance from Akustik Kota Tua.

Then the Gegap Gempita Kota Tua also to be enlivened by HIVI, Yoda, Shanna Shannon, Rahmania Astrini, and Kojek Rap Betawi. The entire series of events will be hosted by energetic MCs Bayu Oktara and Ranty Purnamasari.

Jakarta Tourism and Creative Economy Agency Head, Andhika Permata, said his side wants to present an independence celebration that is not only lively, but also highlights the charm of Kota Tua as a leading tourist destination in Jakarta.

"Hopefully people can feel proud and enjoy quality entertainment with family and friends," he said, Saturday (8/16).

The Jakarta Light Festival will delight visitors with spectacular, artistic light displays that blend beautifully with Jakarta's nightlife. These light installations will provide a stunning visual experience, creating a new attraction in the heart of Jakarta, and providing a fun way to fill the weekend of Independence Day celebrations.

Meanwhile, Gegap Gempita Kota Tua will feature a variety of folk entertainment, arts and cultural performances, and exciting attractions to rekindle the spirit of community togetherness. This event is the perfect opportunity to enjoy the festivities of Independence Day in one of Jakarta's historic areas.

"Both events are open to the public at no cost," he stated.
