Residents Invited to Celebrate Independence with Concrete Actions and Unity

Jakarta City Council Commission E Chairman, KH Muhammad Thamrin says Indonesia's independence is not only a historical proof but also a mandate that must be filled with hard work, unity, and the spirit of mutual cooperation.

"On this 80th Independence Day, we all must continue to uphold the spirit of the founders' struggle by building a more just, prosperous, and dignified life," he expressed, Monday (8/18).

He encourages Jakarta residents to use the independence momentum as a reminder that everyone has an important role in maintaining order, building social solidarity, and making tangible contributions to the city's progress.

"With unity and concern for others, we can create a Jakarta that is friendly, safe, and prosperous for all its residents," he explained.

He hoped that the government would continue to strengthen inclusive and equitable public services, provide space for the growth of the creativity of the nation's children, and implement policies that truly prioritize the interests of the people.

"The government must also become more responsive to societal dynamics, so that development is not only focused on physical infrastructure but also on improving the quality of human resources as the nation's main strength," he explained.

He emphasized that the true meaning of independence is when the people are free from poverty, backwardness, and the threats of online loans (pinjol) and online gambling (judol), which are increasingly damaging social order.

"Let's fill independence with meaningful work, maintaining unity, and collaborating to create a better future for Jakarta and Indonesia," he stated.
